HEBREWS 13:5
I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.
Christmas is supposed to be a time of good cheer. Families gathering, sharing gifts and a home cooked meal, but for most of us Christmas is a time of feeling alone, isolated from the crowd. Even if we have the largest family get together and are surrounded by friends who care about us, there is still this nagging emptiness inside.
People take stock of their lives at this time of year - who they are, what they've accomplished and most are unhappy with the results. Then New Year's Eve comes and new resolutions are made, but rarely kept.
Life is hard and promises made by others or to ourselves are easily broken. We are flawed people with flawed lives for the most part.
By now you are asking yourself where I am going with all of this! Well, I'll tell you - Jesus was born to us as an innocent baby boy to parents who struggled in life to survive. He grew up in the same world we did, one flled with disappointments and sorrows, but there is one different besides the obvious - Son of God title.
Jesus knew who he was, where he came from and that no matter what, his father in heaven would never let him down. I believe Jesus tried to teach his apostles that lesson during his life on earth. Did they eventually get it? Only God knows for sure.
We have the same promise afforded to us, Jesus promises never to leave us nor forsake us. We are special to him.
During this holiday season allow yourself to be loved and cherished by the one who is all love to all people. Know you are special, even if you don't feel that way.
Reach out to someone who is hurting and alone and watch the miracle of love turn your sorrow and theirs to great joy.
On this holiday season, I wish all my readers, God's choicest blessings and favor for the coming year!
Yours in Christ,
